Striga
While this power was developed with Infernal assistance, it is not truly Infernalism (though the vast majority of its practitioners are Infernalists). Unless this power was directly learned from a demon, much like Daimoinon, this discipline will not detect as Infernal to arts that can sense such things. This does not prevent those who hunt the Infernal (very definitely including the Sabbat Inquisition) from hunting down strigmaga as Infernalists, whether or not they detect as such. Those few Inquisitors who know of this power have declared it to be heresy, and punishable by final death without rite or trial.
While this art was once in common practice among secret circles in Europe, with the coming of the Renaissance, this discipline fell out of fashion and into obscurity. While still practiced by some holdouts and neopagans, Striga has largely disappeared form the world. Characters should have a good reason for knowing this discipline.
Striga 1: Strix [DAC 110]
The strigmaga may target any outdoor area within a mile with this power. She must target an area, however, and know which area she is targeting. The area can be no larger than approximately 20 yards radius for sound to transmit clearly.
Both the strigmaga and the targeted area must be outside to use this power.
The strigmaga can sweep her radius, looking for a specific voice. Finding a specific voice (if such a voice is currently speaking) requires a Perception + Alertness roll at difficulty 8). Storyteller’s should make a WoD test to determine if the voice being searched for happens to be speaking at the time the strigmaga is searching.
This power only transmits sound. No other sensory input is granted.
This power transmits all sound in the given area as if the strigmaga was standing right there.
The sounds come along the winds, and are audible to anyone standing near the strigmaga at the time this power is activated.
Striga 2: Scobax [DAC 110]
This power only works if in an area with sufficient insects to create a swarm.
One success gathers all the insects in the area together but not enough to swarm. With 2 or more successes, this power creates an actual swarm that attacks as per the usual swarm mechanics (V20 page 391). One swarm is created for each success beyond the first. These swarms may be directed mentally by the strigmaga for the remainder of the scene. This replaces all system in the listed chart.
Striga 3: Masca [DAC 111]
This is considered a Complete and Incompatible Transformation. See Transformation Discipline clarifications for details.
The strigmaga gains all the statistics of the animal whose blood he drank.
The strigmaga may only assume the forms of animals whose blood she drank that same night.
This power only allows the strigmaga to assume the forms of natural, mundane, unaugmented animals.
While in the animal form, the strigmaga has no access to any disciplines. This includes inherent and automatic effects such as Seeing the Unseen, the physical disciplines, and Heightened Senses.
If the strigmaga’s animal form is killed, the strigmaga automatically resumes her natural form, though missing a number of health levels equal to those of the animal. If the animal had 7 or more health levels, the strigmaga resumes her form in torpor, and will recover as normal for damage torpor.
Striga 4: Hexe [DAC 111]
The damage inflicted by this power is mystical and only soakable with Fortitude.
The strigmaga may spit blood at a target within 3 yards/meters per dot of Strength and Potence she possesses.
The attack roll for this power is Dexterity + Athletics.
The blood spit is a focus for the power, not a true attack, and as such does not grant accuracy damage.
Striga 5: Fractura [DAC 111]
These tentacles are controlled as Arms of the Abyss, save that they all originate from the strigmaga herself.
When a tentacle is damaged, the Strigmaga may choose whether or not to soak. If she chooses not to soak, the tentacle takes damage as normal. If she chooses to soak, she soaks the incoming damage with her own soak pool. However, if the soak roll fails, all damage is dealt to her rather than the tentacle. This is an all or nothing thing, so only if the soak roll scores 0 successes will the Strigmaga take damage from an attack to a tentacle.
If a tentacle loses all 4 health levels, it curls up and turns to ash, destroyed.
This power lasts for the duration of the scene.
A strigmaga can be diablerized through her tentacles, but the system for doing so is no different than ordinary diablerie, just as a diablerist may attempt to diablerize by draining a victim from any main artery or vein, not necessarily the neck.
Each tentacle must be enhanced by spending blood separately.
