Emerald Coven Chronicles uses a modified version of the MET Sabbat Status system as presented in the MET Sabbat Guide, rather than the tabletop rules from Guide to the Sabbat or V20. This system designed for LARP creates a more dynamic IC system with regards to status and allows for status traits to really mean something.
For Status, each point taken in the background is considered to be a point of Reputational Status and is linked with an adjective trait representing something you are known for. Some examples are given below, though any adjective that does not have another specific meaning such as a trait awarded for specific positions is acceptable. There are additional Status traits awarded based on membership in the Sabbat as well as other conditions such as being on an approved Path or holding Court positions these additional traits are not considered personal status and do not count towards the cap. A character may have a maximum of 5 Reputational Status traits at any given time.
The first Status that must be gained by any Sabbat member is Initiated. This is equivalent to the Camarilla’s Acknowledged. An Initiated Sabbat member is someone who has gone through the Creation Rites and is considered True Sabbat (as opposed to a Shovelhead) and is protected by Sabbat Law and the Code of Milan. This status is granted by the Pack Priest (or possibly higher clergy position) who oversaw the Creation Rites. All starting characters in Emerald Coven Chronicles are assumed to be Initiated unless they wish not to be as part of their characters. The Initiated Status trait may not be loaned, nor may it be stripped except by the Priest who granted it, or by another Clergy member of Bishop rank or higher.
Status traits may be loaned to another person or a specific course of action. This represents backing that person or action by literally putting your name behind it. Once status has been loaned to a person, he may treat that loaned status as his own in all respects save that the actual owner may recall it at any time prior to that Status being lost. A character may loan a maximum of one status to each individual, but may loan them indefinitely. A character may loan as many status traits as he wishes to a given course of action in support, but beware that if that course fails, some or all of those status traits loaned to support it will likely be lost.
Beyond Initiated, Sabbat Status is divided into 4 different categories: Reputational, Accomplishment, Positional, and Negative. Each of these types of Status are explained below. When considering a Sabbat member’s Status, the total of all types of status is considered. For example, a Ventrue Antitribu Ductus with 3 Reputational Status, 2 Accomplishment Status and 1 Positional Status (Feared for Ductus) + Initiated would say that he has 7 Status.
New Merit!: Acolyte (1-3 pts) - This merit is to reflect that you have been taught Sabbat Ritae in your background. 1 point means you have learned 3 of the Auctoritus Ritae; this usually includes Creation Rites, the Vaulderie, and one other. 2 points means you know all of the Auctoritus Ritae. 3 points means you know all the Auctoritus Ritae, Ignoblis Ritae, and have perhaps created 1 or 2 of your own for your pack. In game you can be taught Ritae for free--this merit represents having known them in your backstory.
